Red Hare Brewing Company Gangway IPA
This American style IPA is medium bodied and definitely has that citrus flavor and aroma we’ve all come to love. Coming in at just under 7% ABV we hope this IPA sets the tone for our new brewery in the Atlanta market. Slightly sweet, very hoppy, crisp but unfiltered, we know this one will leave people thirsty for more.
In my own personal opinion, Red Hare’s Gangway IPA is rather excellent as far as easy drinking, low ABV % IPAs go. I am a huge fan of the India Pale Ale in general, but I have several friends who aren’t so fond of the extreme bitterness and grapefruit-iness often typical of the style. Even as a fan, I am often inclined to steer away from IPAs for a break from the extreme unbalanced nature of the IPA. The Gangway IPA is perfect for these types of situations. It is very easy to drink, especially for those just venturing outside of the bland big brand lager garbage. For myself, it’s nice to have a great tasting IPA that I can drink more than one or two and not end up with a headache and over-stimulated salivary glands.
I also wanted to speak to the brewery itself. Red Hare is a brand new brewery, opening it’s doors in late 2011. They are roughly 15 minutes down the road from my house, so I am very excited by the good stuff I have seen so far. They have been very active in the community and are great at engaging with customers, opening up the brewery occasionally for live music and catered food to go along with their brews. They are also taking an active approach to environmental concerns, offering discounts to patrons who bring in the plastic carriers from their aluminum can six packs - which are easily recycled as well.
All this to say I have high hopes for Red Hare and really enjoy the beer they have on the market so far. Companies like this I have no reservation for throwing my hard earned money at, and will continue to in the future.
